20 Pounds Down

Been awhile since I updated. I am officially 20 pounds down since I started this weight loss journey. I don’t have any pics to show, but I can definitely see it in my face and tummy!

I have been doing the same thing as before, just watching calories and trying to do yoga and stretching when I can. Things have been rough around our house. Having a hard time dealing with a recent major shift in my life. So, unfortunately depression has helped me not eat. I’m one who hides and doesn’t want to eat much, instead of the opposite like some people.

It hasn’t been easy to force myself to eat at least 1200 calories a day. Some days I only would eat 600-900 calories. It probably was those days where I could have made my body lose more if I had just stuck with 1200 calories and didn’t lay in bed all day. I think that there is truth to the fact that your body thinks you are starving and holds on to fat if you stay in such a low calorie eating habit.

Also, with all of the stress I’m sure my cortisol levels were through the roof and that by itself will keep you from losing weight. I’m trying to push past it all and take everything day by day and eat 3 small meals a day.

In the beginning of June I will be taking a girls’s trip to the beach and I need to really get going if I want to lose more weight and look semi decent in my summer clothes. We will see how it goes. I’ll post a before and after picture at that time if all goes well!

Intermittent Fasting

You have probably been doing this without knowing it your whole life. By skipping breakfast and lunch and just eating late in the day, or by being sick and missing multiple meals you have been intermittenly fasting.

Intermittent Fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. What you eat is not as specifically defined as when you eat and how long between fasting.

There are different ways that you can put this together and each way can help encourage weight loss. Research indicates that this type of dieting is difficult for most people because of the discipline involved. It can be an effective way to lose weight over a period of time due to loss of calories.

When you don’t eat for a period of time, your body naturally diuresis and gets rid of any bloat that food in the GI tract would cause. It gives you more of a slimmed down feeling. And, you will lose weight from the burning of fat while you haven’t eaten, and the loss of calories.

It’s a unique way to look at burning some calories but there are questions that people may have. Questions like how many hours should I go without eating? Then, how many days do I eat like this? What should I eat when I come out of a fast?

These questions could easily be helped by members of the same type community, such as a FB group or message boards. A really friendly message board that may be helpful with weight loss ideas is www.3fatchicks.com.

Who doesn’t want to intermittenly fast? The question is do you have the will power to do it? Perhaps a supplement can help to curb your appetite if you can’t go without eating.

Or instead of an actual fast where you just drink water and don’t eat, try doing a liquid fast. Instead of withdrawal of food, drink a protein shake as two meals. At least you get some sense of fullness and excitement with chocolate and sweetened flavors. But the fact that you are fasting before and after the drink and consuming much less calories than you would if you ate, may be a fair trade off.

After this type of dieting over time, your stomach probably would have shrunk a bit and you won’t eat as much going forward.

Continuing the Journey

I never thought I would be here still losing weight, but I actually have been continuing this weight loss journey. And if I do say so, better than I thought I would. So far the total weight loss since Jan. 2, 2019 is about 15 pounds!

I am thoroughly ecstatic because it is weight loss and not gain!

I can easily gain weight much easiest than lose it! Can’t we all?

The weight loss is great of course, but the fact is, I’ve lost a major fat roll on my tummy. Having my tummy shrink makes me happy because my clothes fit so much better. I am determined to get rid of every bit of my muffin top and have a flat tummy.

How have I gotten this far with my weight loss in 2.5 months? The simple three secrets-

1.Watch calories-Eat only bkfast, lunch, dinner-I eat what I want in small portions.

2. Yoga/Pilates/Stretches-I make up my own daily stretching routine-try to do 200 crunches to the front, 50 to each side, multiple leg lifts, and back stretches. I use dumbells randomly while watching t.v. and crunches in bed!

3. Most important-I don’t drink alcohol or sugary drinks. I don’t even drink a lot of water, I just drink til I’m not thirsty.

I have a hard time being active because I have a disorder called fibromyalgia that limits the amount of physical activity that I can do. So for me to lose weight without pushing my muscles, I can’t ask for anything better.

I am happy that I have been able to shrink my tummy literally on the inside as well. My stomach feels like it has shrunk because I am not near as hungry as I used to be. I don’t crave junk food or sugary foods. And if I go eat out somewhere, then I feel miserable because of the amount of food in my stomach making my stomach ache.

I am thankful for this though. I feel like I get full so much quicker now. I attribute this only to the fact that when I was drinking the apple cider vinegar I wasn’t very hungry, so I ate a lot less.

I have at least 50 more pounds to lose. I can do it. Summer is coming. I can be a hot momma if I try real hard!

There are many reviews on the internet regarding Forskolin. While this product may have an odd name, many people are raving about ow forskolin works for weight loss and fat burning.

There are many fake sites out there pushing this product that claim that certain celebrities took this product to lose a lot of weight. There is no evidence that they actually did, or that they approved of being a spokesperson for the forskolin. Nonetheless this product is worth reviewing.

Forskolin is an active compound found in the roots of the Indian coleus (Coleus forskohlii), a tropical plant related to mint. For centuries, this plant has been used in traditional herbal medicine to treat various conditions and diseases.

Modern scientific research has now shown that some of these health benefits may be true, or could be true because clinical trials in humans have provided some promising results. Forskolin appears to assist in promoting fat loss while preserving muscle mass.

Fish Oil to Suppress Appetite

A ‘fat pill’ that could reduce the need for gastric bypass surgery and help solve the obesity crisis has been developed by British scientists.

The capsule, packed with a mix of natural oils, is thought to trick the stomach into thinking it’s full and suppress the appetite.

appetite suppressant

So far, it has been lab-tested on human tissue for more than two years by a team of researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), in a project part-funded by the charity Bowel & Cancer Research.

Now, the team has won funding to test the capsule and its contents on human volunteers.

The ‘fat pill’ works by sending special food supplements directly to the lower bowel, bypassing the small intestine.

This causes the release of hormones which suppress the appetite and help with the release of insulin to control blood sugar levels.

Article from UK’s Daily Mail.

‘It tricks the brain into thinking the stomach is full and stops even the hungriest person from eating,’ said lead researcher Ashley Blackshaw, Professor of Enteric Neuroscience at QMUL.

‘It should have the same effect as gastric bypass surgery. The difference is that surgery is expensive, invasive and irreversible.’

The pill, he says, is just like swallowing a fish oil capsule  – and the team members are so confident in their concept that they hope the treatment will be widely available in the next five years.

Cool Sculpting

Amazingly enough there is a procedure now that can just freeze off your fat cells and easily shrink your tummy. It is called CoolSculpting and it is popular with Hollywood celebrities. It’s done with special CoolSculpting tools but it’s not invasive at all. The procedure takes place right on your skin. No cuts or incisions.

You might wondering how CoolSculpting can actually get rid of the fat on your body. Basically, fat cells that are frozen during the CoolSculpting procedure gradually die off and leave the body through the body’s natural elimination process. The results thereby are long-term.
It’s called cryoliposis.

Untreated areas will have no change in fat cell distribution.

CoolSculpting technology uses controlled cooling to target and kill only fat cells. They use a gel pad over the site, and secure the applicator to the targeted area.

CoolSculpting helps you eliminate fat areas and bulges that really bother you. According to their site, for some people, a customized treatment plan may include more than one CoolSculpting treatment. For example, you may want to freeze away fat from your inner and/or outer thighs—and also get rid of that muffin top. Some practices have multiple CoolSculpting systems and can treat different body areas at the same time.

The awesome thing about CoolSculpting is that you lose stubborn fat forever, plus it’s noninvasive. However, there are a just a few drawbacks.

It’s a little uncomfortable.

As the name suggests, the CoolSculpting procedure can be a little chilly. The feeling usually subsides within 5 to 10 minutes as the area numbs. Because most applicators use a vacuum to draw fatty tissue into the applicator cup, you may also feel some pulling, tugging, and/or mild pinching.

After you and your physician select the area(s) to be treated, the device is positioned on your body and controlled cooling is applied. A gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area. Vacuum applicators draw the tissue into the applicator cup. The applicators are secured so they can deliver controlled cooling to the targeted fat.

Another downside, you most likely will have to have multiple treatments to achieve the best results. If you are a person who wants instant gratification and you can’t commit to going to various sessions, then this may not work well for you. After that you won’t see results until about 3 weeks and peak at 2 months. So you do have to wait on the total result of the treatment.

And the other drawback is money. The treatments can be rather pricey for people living on a tight budget. I don’t know about you, but if I carefully diet just for a few weeks I can see some fat reduction as well. And it’s free! But it probably is cheaper than liposuction, and less dangerous and invasive, and much less downtime.

You may start to see changes as quickly as 3 weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after 2 months. Your body will still continue to flush out fat cells for up to 4 to 6 months after treatment.

3 Day Military Diet

The 3 Day Military Diet is an extreme fad diet that will definitely help you lose weight very quickly. According to the instructions you can lose 10 pounds in a week. The Military Diet is also referred to as
the Cleveland Clinic 3 day diet, the Cardiac diet, the Birmingham Hospital Cardiac Unit diet, and the AHA diet (the American Heart Association does not actually endorse this diet despite the name, nor does the military).

The Military Diet is meant to help people lose weight fast, and if repeated in cycles with low to moderate calorie intake, it can be beneficial. Most people, however, fail miserably while on this diet because it is very mundane and it’s easy to feel hungry often.

What is the military-diet?

The Military Diet requires people to follow a low-calorie diet for 3 days and then return to regular eating for 4 days. Across the first 3 days, the diet restricts daily calorie intake to 1,400, 1,200, and 1,100 calories.

The diet is high in protein and low in fat, carbohydrates and calories. It includes specific food combinations that boost metabolism and burn fat. The specific combinations of the foods along with a decrease in calories will lead to weight loss.

On this diet you can only drink water, or non caffeinated beverages like tea or water. An occasional black coffee with Stevia would be fine though for people who can’t do without. Do not add any cream to your coffee.

3 Day Military Meal Plan

DAY 1:

1/2 Grapefruit
1 Slice of Toast
2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
1 cup Coffee or Tea (with caffeine)

1/2 Cup of Tuna
1 Slice of Toast
1 cup Coffee or Tea (without caffeine)

3 ounces of any type of meat
1 cup of green beans
1/2 banana
1 small apple
1 cup of vanilla ice cream

1 egg
1 slice of toast
1/2 banana

1 cup of cottage cheese
1 hard boiled egg
5 saltine crackers

2 hot dogs (without bun)
1 cup of broccoli
1/2 cup of carrots
1/2 banana
1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream

5 saltine crackers
1 slice of cheddar cheese
1 small apple

1 hard boiled egg (or cooked however you like)
1 slice of toast

1 cup of tuna
1/2 banana
1 cup of vanilla ice cream

Good luck to anyone who tries the Military Diet. It seems like the calories should be much less in total when you look at the small amounts of food you will be consuming.

You will definitely feel your tummy growl on this diet and you will most likelyfeel hungry. This propels some people to feel the burn and continue to diet. For other people, they just aren’t used to their tummy growling at all. The semi nauseating feeling when they are hungry is just too much for them. For that crowd it would be recommended to try the keto diet instead because it is much more filling.

I once read an article that talked about the power of positivity in weight loss. There were some studies done on two groups trying to lose weight. People in the first group told themselves on a daily basis that they were losing weight and looking better (neither group used a scale). They could ‘feel’ that there was less fat. They focused on how well their clothes fit and even if there wasn’t much difference they told themselves there was.

Then there was the other group who didn’t do this. Both groups were very focused on losing weight.

It turns out that the power of positivity actually can help you get what you want. You are putting it out there in the universe than you are skinnier and therefore you will get what you want. That group actually had a good bit more weight loss than the group who didn’t talk to themselves daily about how they felt skinnier.

So of course, I talk to myself everyday about it. Like I have said before, I just don’t get on a scale much when I am trying to lose weight. It gets so obssessive for me and I will tend to waver if I try so hard and see only a 2 pound weight loss. It kills your spirit each time you do that.

I highly recommend positivity toward your weight loss goals! If you are struggling, then just keep trying! Daily affirmations are the best.

Say ” I feel a bit skinnier today.”, “Yes, the diet is working!”, “I can tell I’m getting smaller” Anything. Say it out loud to yourself so that the universe can hear you as well.

Doing this daily will boost your morale when it comes to losing weight and getting healthier. You start your day while driving saying positive affirmations to yourself, and you are much more likely to stay on a weight loss plan.

Tell yourself your diet is working. Then just try hard. And don’t get on a scale for weeks at a time, if even that!

ACV Helped Me Lose Weight!

So, we are now on day 23 of the acv challenge and I must say it really works to help you lose weight. I feel thinner in my middle section, and I am now down about 7 pounds. I am really happy even with a 7 pound weight lose in 3 weeks if that weight will stay gone! I still have at least 40 lbs to go, but this is really the first new year that I have tried hard to lose weight and stuck with it.

Today, however, was a disaster. In those 3 weeks I have been having a less than normal appetite, but today I can’t quit eating junk! I ate a pop tart earlier in the day, then some more bad things, pasta for dinner. Let’s just call today my cheat day. I gotta dive straight back in tomorrow and try to do better!!

Spark Your Day

Advocare Fruit Punch Spark is by far the best way to drink an energy drink in the morning without all that extra stuff that comes with shakes.

You know what I mean, that thickness on your tongue you sometimes get from drinking thick protein shakes. Yuck. You can barely keep your eyes woke let alone drinking your breakfast.

Advocare Fruit Punch Spark is the much better solution.

According to the Advocare website:

Spark® delivers energy and enhanced mental focus with 20 vitamins, minerals and nutrients.*
Spark® is a unique blend of 20 vitamins, minerals and nutrients that work synergistically to provide a healthy and balanced source of energy.* Spark contains an effective amount of caffeine to give you a quick boost, B vitamins to enhance your body’s natural ability to produce and sustain its own energy, and neuroactive ingredients that enhance mental focus and alertness.*

Some of the other flavors might taste vitaminy, but the fruit punch flavor is really kinda akin to drinking tropical punch Koolaid. It mixes well with other drinks too if needed.

When I worked night shift as a neonatal nurse, I would drink a glass of this in the wee hours of the morning, and it gave me a sharpness that coffee couldn’t give me. All of the vitamins and the proprietary blends give you energy as well, without jitteriness.

I highly recommend this product to keep up an energy level that helps you want to work out. It also has no sugar and lowers your appetite!
